Mimi grew up in Mexico and has a degree in Political Science from the Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City. She met her husband Kenton in 1983 and eventually moved to Iowa in 1986 when they married. They lived in Iowa for 14 years, where both of her boys were born, prior to moving to Phoenix.
